Room for improvement with the casagrandes
Room For Improvement With The Casagrandes. An eclectic group of friends, each with their own unique style, decide to turn a room into something they are passionate about – a room for improvement. Desperate to get a decent spot in their next building, Ronnie Anne, Sid and Christine find an otherwise hidden room in the attic and attempt to keep it a secret for the others. When the fun turns to terror, everyone discovers they are locked in the room with no way out!
When they break out, everyone is too shocked to stop the fun, except for Christine who manages to escape. However, when one of the Casagrandes starts dancing with a girl in one of the bedrooms, the other tenants begin to look for the code word they had given them to open the door… Will anyone ever find the secret room for improvement with the casagrandes? Or will they all wind up locked in the attic again?
This third episode starts off by returning us to our original question of what is inside the attic? None of our characters find anything, so they all return to the living room to celebrate Christmas with everyone else. During this time, Christine realizes she has forgotten the password. Will our hero be able to solve the riddles that keep getting interrupted in this fun room for games and socializing? Find out as this third episode progresses!
Another fun thing that happens in this episode is that the Casagrandes start playing a game of k-pop with a couple of their friends. This leads to their discovery of a closet that has a large amount of drugs and equipment. Is this the beginning of the end for the Casagrandes, or can they save the day? (I’m not sure if I liked the end of the third season better than the first season, but it does seem like it goes against the theme of renewal.) Watch the scene below, and check out the full recap at my blog!
In this third episode, “Solving Solved Mysteries,” we finally meet our main characters, Sam and Stephanie. We also learn about Mr. Casagrande, who is revealed to be one of the Secret Service agents that were sent to Miami to solve a series of murders that were happening there. The two families are soon immersed in each other’s company. The tension builds as they begin to solve the case, and everyone in the family plays a role in trying to solve the mystery.
While this is a good episode, I felt that the potential for the series to go into a mid-season break is very slim. I also thought it was a little cheap to have Stephanie get pregnant, but it just felt like the symbolism was lost somewhere along the line. The other problem I had with the show was how the couple was going to spend their anniversary trip. Will they split up to pay for the trip? Or will the two of them split up to spend time together?

After finding out that the Secret Service is watching their apartment, Sam and Stephanie get suspicious, and decide to sleep on the roof. Shortly after doing so, they both overhear a conversation between a couple of the Secret Service agents and their landlord. While no one is directly mentioned in this episode, I think it is safe to assume that the two of them may be involved in some kind of spy ring involving their apartment and the occupants of their building.
Ultimately, The Girlfriend Diaries, like most shows, tries to do too much at once. While I don’t necessarily see how the show can progress for 5 seasons without revealing too much, I will say that it would be pretty stupid for the show to skip over the first few episodes to introduce the main characters. I think they were trying to give us a teaser to whet our appetite for what could be great, so we can then follow it up with more interesting episodes about the Girlfriends and their secret room for improvement.
